Unique Alternatives Posted March 14, 2008 Report Posted March 14, 2008 Im about to order some components and run them from my 4channel, now if i do this str8 up then ill be running passive? Which means i cant control what freq. im putting into the speaks because the crossovers take car of that>? Or does it matter what type of components i have?
VtecDomani Posted March 16, 2008 Report Posted March 16, 2008 You will be able to alter the frequency by the Xover on your amp. Shouldn't matter what components you get. Head Unit: Pioneer DEH-P4050UB Subs: 2 Pioneer Premier 12" ts-w3004spls Sub box: 3.2ft3 tuned to 35hz Sub Amp: SoundMagus DK 1800 Speaker Amp: Rockford Fosgate 200a4 Bridged to fronts Front Speakers: DLS MS5A components 2 gauge power & ground
AI James Posted March 16, 2008 Report Posted March 16, 2008 you would run just the raw drivers to the amp and toss the crossovers that are included aside
Unique Alternatives Posted March 17, 2008 Author Report Posted March 17, 2008 you would run just the raw drivers to the amp and toss the crossovers that are included aside So id put the mid on one channel and the tweet on another? And another question, if i put the amp's x-over on full, does that mean i control both low-pass and high-pass? Example: Amp's Crossover on Full Low Pass- 250hz High Pass- 50hz If I do that then does that mean my speakers are gonna play 50-250hz?
meade916 Posted March 18, 2008 Report Posted March 18, 2008 if you put the amp on "full" that means "fullrange"....it will amplify everything. IMO, if you want to go active, get a processor of some sort to make SURE each speaker is getting the frequency it needs and nothing else. In other words you dont want tweets playing 60hz, and you dont want your subs playing 2500 All SMD products + MORE available at my store here! https://wccaraudio.com/ Subscribe to My Youtube Channel! Unique Alternatives Posted March 20, 2008 Author Report Posted March 20, 2008 Alright thanks guys! So running basic passive setup, lets say my mid on my components can go to 60hz, so im thinking set my amp on high pass around 70hz and then the components crossover should take over from there right?
