Guest Posted April 2, 2014 Report Posted April 2, 2014 Wtf.... Just checked everything when I got off work... The fuse holder near the battery has melted off... Smh could be worse thats caused by loose connections. that could've ended up much worse. cheap fuse holders can cause melting too, but typically its loose connections. loose connections = resistance = heat
MyRoomBeats Posted April 4, 2014 Report Posted April 4, 2014 I just fixed my melting problem. Luckily I caught it before it ruined my amp completely. My problem was that I tried to get too much from my amp.
Quan804 Posted April 4, 2014 Author Report Posted April 4, 2014 I just fixed my melting problem. Luckily I caught it before it ruined my amp completely. My problem was that I tried to get too much from my amp. I think I did the same exact thing.. I usually don't use the bass boost on the amp but I was trying to get the most out of my amp since my subs needed more power... Right now I have 2 comp r's 800rms a piece and the stats on my amp puts out 800rms at 2omhs.. Smh only 1side of the fuse holder was melted the side closest to the battery was fine.
MyRoomBeats Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 Bro I have no idea what would be wrong with it. Could be loose connection....uhh is your battery dying even after your car is off...say u go into the store is it dead once you get back out. If so get a toggle for your amp. My bro-inlaw had to for his cavalier :/ idle man but goodluck
RooTxBeeR Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 Also, could be your alt died. MyRoomBeats Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 Nah it was the amp staying on if you were referring to me
bbeljefe Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 Glad you found the problem but just to clarify... If the battery will start the vehicle with no problem, then the battery is sufficient to supply the amplifier and to be sure, to power the memory on the head unit. Since you never complained that the vehicle wouldn't start, condemning the battery is NOT the first step in troubleshooting.
