AASMDBASS Posted April 8, 2014 Author Report Posted April 8, 2014 When you say "bass knob" are you talking about the remote gain control that came with the amp? if it is an actual bass boost, turn it and leave it down. If your gains are set properly, you almost never have room for boosting any frequencies. A DMM can't detect clipping so it is a bad tool to use to set gains with. Are you running dual inputs on the amp? There are 4 things that will put that amp into protect: Speaker shorts, DC offset, High/Low voltage, Thermal protection Sorry yes just the knob WITH the amp, and my AQ 3500 does not have the dual inputs... That includes any terminals on your box and the terminals+tinsels for your sub. Pull out your head unit, make sure the RCAs in there are tight as well. If your bass knob accepts RCAs, check those are tight, Also wiggle them around to see if there is a loose connection inside the wire If it's the kind that plug into the amp: Unplug it and see if the problem persists You're gonna hate me for this... Hahaha But... If it persists after I unplug the knob, then what? Pour some gas and light a match? Check voltage at the amp while playing one of said songs starting at a low volume and gradually turn it up until it shuts off. What do you get? Check the mounting tabs where they attach to the amp. I didn't do the install but they told me everything was set correctly and no clipping issues If all they used was a dmm, they can not accurately tell you that. Also I'm not 100% sure that all they used was a DMM... I can find out The DD-1 is the easiest/best to use for tuning an amp/HU. Your HU is probably clean all the way to full tilt.
