Amp cutting off

How about you start checking what I posted vs. trying to jump to conclusions? Like it or not, this stuff happens all the time and as much as we like to look for some weird problem, 95% of the time it's a very simple fix.

Without diagnosing, your other option is to start throwing money at it. Replace the amp. Replace the wiring. Replace the batteries. Replace the alt. Replace the sub. Replace the RCAs. Replace the head unit. Etc, etc

a dmm is not a proper tool to set gains so idk how much i'd trust the shop. you can set gains with either a DD1 or an O-Scope and know it's safe.

anyways, what i came to say is that my aq2200 had it's knob crap out on my and well it would cause a horrible popping noise by sending like a really big burst to my sub. scared the crap out of me so i unplugged it and haven't dared put it in again. go try and unplug the knob and see if it persists and then come back and we can get somewhere.

Well previously to all of this occurring today, I have been having an issue the past few weeks that caused the subwoofer to cut in and out of bass notes at low volumes on the head unit and caused my door speakers hooked up to a Rockford P400X4 to have a distorting sound at low volumes as well... Took it to the audio shop and they checked such things as voltage at the amp and came to me and said I need a new head unit... Not sure if this is at all related to my current problem... I wish I knew more about this stuff so I could check myself but unfortunately I don't

How can you verify that the amp is shutting off completely vs. it just not producing any output?

Check voltage at the amp while playing one of said songs starting at a low volume and gradually turn it up until it shuts off. What do you get? This needs to be done to make any progress/find a solution.

I completely missed this post... The amp "shuts off" and the only way for me to get it back on is to shut the vehicle off and restart the vehicle... And cturning it up gradually until it shuts off. What do you get? " what do you mean what do I get?

Check all the other stuff I listed

I'll ask this: How is your amp mounted? Does it vibrate? Check the mounting tabs where they attach to the amp. I've seen it happen where they got slightly loose and broke the RCA off the board.

Amp is mounted "in" the box... Separate compartment on the front that only shows the amp itself, no wires... But this cutting off at low frequencies problem happened with this same set up in my previous vehicle in a different box with the amp mounted on the back of the box

Another thing to check is your main inline fuse. When this happened to me this is what I found to be the culprit. The fuse didn't look jacked up but it was. Just a thought. Good luck!
