HopenCagen Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 so i was looking at my alternator and battery to plan out the big three before hand just to take a look. and the power wire doesnt go directly to the battery. it goes to the engine block i think ( its in a sleeve didnt wanna tear it apart) and then theres a part on the front of the engine block that its connected too then it runs to my battery. the alternator isnt connected directly to the battery, for the big three should i just run it from the alternator to the battery? or just remove the connect that its already got and try to connect the big three how its already wired? im not sure if this is how all cars are i just thought it went from the alternator to the battery. i have a 2001 dodge stratus SE , any help appreciated. thanks much
HopenCagen Posted April 11, 2014 Author Report Posted April 11, 2014 also, i can post pictures / a video tomorrow if needed of what im talking about
SnowDrifter Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 You don't need to follow the factory wiring route When you do the upgrade, add onto the existing factory wiring. revoracing247 Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 yup i'd just run it strait there. though i'd fuse it just to be careful. ~ If it was easy, everybody would be doing it ~
HopenCagen Posted April 11, 2014 Author Report Posted April 11, 2014 fuck i dont have an extra fuse, should i just wait to get one ?
SnowDrifter Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 Personally, I would. Lots of folks here don't fuse their alt to battery. But IMO fuse everything. Would be a shame to have a fire because of a $15 fuse - or lack of ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444

Seymore Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 As long as your wire's sheathed in heat-resistant covering, then you shouldn't have your wire ground out. I didn't when I was running two OEM batteries in my '98 Sierra ext, but I only had the 0gauge in there for about 5 months. It's not that big of a risk, but the danger is extreme. Omega5002 Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 My old volvo was like that, alternator postive went to a starter solenoid then to the battery, I'd just run straight from alt to battery. 2003 Kia Sorento Team Subsonic LowsTeam Bassin' on a Budget2016 Rebuild Under Construction Best score: 150.2 at 40hz (3k, 2 Custom HDC3 15's) Usaci style(door open, in the kick)
