cvxsmitty58 Posted April 22, 2014 Report Posted April 22, 2014 I'm looking to get some good low end goin on my 27 searay. There's really nowhere good in the cockpit to put anything good sized. So I was thinking of putting the woofers in the cabin and having the bass come out from there. I'm planning on using an audioque2200 for the lows. The area where I'm looking at is up near the bow, under the v-berth. This has a natural tapered horn shape to it that I'm thinking I can use to my advantage. Unfortunately I only have 13 inches of height to work with and 22 inches of width. I'm thinking that 2 sundown e10's would fit the bill. I'm planning on running the amp at 2 ohms so I think that'll put me right around 1k rms. I'm running a dedicated shrunken skbt100 with a battery isolator for the audio, which includes 3 other 2 channel amps (roughly 250rms each) for mids and highs. So here's my questions for y'all Will enough of the sound make it out of the cabin if I mount the woofers in there and leave the cabin door open? Does anyone have experience with the e series sundowns, if so what kind of power do they handle comfortably? If space permits, should I go ported? I only ask this because there won't be anything for the port to load off other than the pressure underneath the bed. Thanks and have a good one.
john253a Posted April 23, 2014 Report Posted April 23, 2014 It will work But will u be happy Personally Single ported 10 or 2 8" In that space Because you have q1-2200 Idd use a d4 hds310 in a ported box Or a single x10 If you really want a sealed box Single fiQ 12 Or 2 sd10
Bassboylow_g Posted April 23, 2014 Report Posted April 23, 2014 if you need help with a design you might try getting in contact with "Cutting Edge Customs". they did an install in a boat with a pair of DD 510's in a tapped horn that was really impressive

That Is pretty impressive if it was done right very impressive install in a boat, although the mids and highs were very loud and harsh with the boat sitting still and it made it hard to enjoy the bass. probably sounded a good bit better when the boat was underway and had some wind to dull down the highs
Bassboylow_g Posted April 23, 2014 Report Posted April 23, 2014 here is a link to Cutting Edge's facebook page if you want to try and get a hold of them. it doesn't look like they have any pictures of the boat on their page though https://www.facebook.com/CuttingEdgeServicesInc
cvxsmitty58 Posted April 25, 2014 Author Report Posted April 25, 2014 I appreciate the input guys. Looking to wire up the boat this weekend. I'll take a few pics of the area I'm talking about so you get a better idea. 44 degrees and rain doesn't help the urge to get workin.
cvxsmitty58 Posted April 26, 2014 Author Report Posted April 26, 2014 Ended up ordering 2 soundqubed 10's. For the price I couldn't beat it. Hopefully they're they same quality as the audioque pushing em
john253a Posted April 26, 2014 Report Posted April 26, 2014 there the same company what mdl did you get the hds2.5 or or hds3 idd want to run 2 hds310 off that, but a single hdc310 ported would have done equally as well and saved you some some coin as only one would have been needed
cvxsmitty58 Posted April 28, 2014 Author Report Posted April 28, 2014 I got the 2.5's. They ended up being 20 bucks more than a single 3. I figured since I have the space to do 2 ported and am only looking at 1200rms from the amp at 2 ohms, I might as well double my cone area. And if one blows for whatever reason, it's only an 80 dollar dent to fix. On another note, I just finished running 2 runs of 1/0 to my shuriken. I fused it close to the battery bank in the engine compartment then put in the isolator, then another fuse before the shuriken (which is in the aft cabin).
