70amp alt = how much rms

Recommended Posts

got a mate with a toyota (diesel) has a 70amp factory alt, and he doesn't want to add a second alt

he has dual batt under the hood, and none in the rear

I'm thinking 6-800rms max sub and 350-400 mids/high

he wants like 1500rms sub and 450-500 mids/high

what the the thorts of other,

what have others successfully run off roughly this size alt long term

I've had 1700w of a Toyata 70a alt, with 2 underhood batteries, 220ah total. My voltage was around 12.7 full tilt. Now, this was with a Mmats amp @2ohm, so I suspect it was a bit more efficient than most.

tyring to talk him into the q1-750 & q4-120

1x hds312 and 3set of 6.5 comps (2 front 1 rear)

so 750rms to subs and 580 to mids high (@14v witch i would expect will sit at 12.5-13v)

maybe even a q1-1200 with the q4

i know he really would love a q1-2200 with 2x hds10, but i told him thats a no go with stock alt
