jonathancullen89
alright so i started building a wall in this car, i have been without subs since my celica broke down and have been craving bass. so i have the basic layout of the box already in the car, its the same box as i had the subs in before just in a wall style. like 3.5cu^ft per chamber, dual/common chamber (2 subs per side). so i got everything in, and it hits high's like a mofo! it fckin hurts to sit in the car for 2 long because of how loud the highs are- 40-60hz. the box is tuned to about 36-37 hz, but my low end sucks. it sounds like crap, songs i used to be able to bump all day to (air forces, late night tip) i cannot stand anymore because it sounds liek shit. in a wall configurations my box doesnt hit the lows like it used to, im not sure if its because it is no longer bouncing off the hatch or what but it sounds like poo. i have been thinking of teh design and i think its my ports, they are 3-3/4 ports, flared at one end. im thinking this is 2 small a port for two twelves, and im hearing a while bunch of port noise that is why it is sounding like shit. if any of you know me you know that i cannot stand fart cans, and my car is now one. imma take my walmart meter out there (roflmao!) and c what i hit with these puppies. ChevyBoy
dude....you need more port. is that 3.5 cubes per pair of subs? if so, then you should use around 40-45 square inches per pair.

jonathancullen89
rofl, i know i need more port. im not sure what to tune the subs to though. the manual says to tune them at 60hz but no way in hell would i do that, i would rather run sealed. should i- A) take out chamber divider, making one huge box and have one huge port? B)just get bigger ports and do two ports in the box C) run the bitch sealed, save me time and effort i kinda like A, but what do you all think. i will get better dimensions tonight hopefully so you guys can help me with a port, i dont really know how to just put a square port in the box, unless i where to use like the RE calculator i have no idea on square ports. thanks guys, now that i know why my subs sound like shit ill have to get it fixed. btw johnny you better get your ass over here during spring break, i need to finish this car so i have sum bass again.
