So I have been scratching my head at this one for some time,

So my speakers are getting a massive hissing noise when I turn my headlights on.

Have gone over my grounds and have changed over my rca cables.

My grounds go straight to the battery, I had to make my own relay switch for headunit to turn on not sure if that would be the problem.

rca's run on the opposite side of the car, don't have a problem during the day only when headlights come on.

Headlights are hid. Was thinking maybe I need to upgrade the grounds on them or something?

Any help would be good.

Car is a 06 vw mk5 gti.

Does the head unit relay get wired to your car's fuse panel? I've had things wired to the fuse panel cause headlight and blinker noise, and had to wire around it.

Sounds like a ground issue. However, i had this issue on a previous truck and drove me crazy. After going through all my grounds, i decided to replace the headlight switch. Sure enough that was the issue. Check grounding on your switch circuit before replacing it you might get lucky.

Just nocited that when I hit the brake for a split sec they make the noise also when im in reverse it makes the noise,

Maybe not just a headlight problem.

Im currently trying to run two sets of rca cables from the mid rca output from the headunit, I'm using a y splitter and running one pair to the 1/2 channel and the other to the 3/4 channel.

Running a 3 way setup.

I can run one pair of rca cables fine but once I add the second rca cable the hissing noise appears

Headlight ground wasn't the problem, and had a play around with the fuse tap.

Went back and played with the rcas at the back of the headunit, found that one of my new y-splitters connections was broken on the inside of the rca,

The soldering inside had broken and the wires were not connected.

All sorted now thanks for the help.
