noobslayer77 Posted May 8, 2014 Report Posted May 8, 2014 Hey Just curious what is the benefit of using 1'' mdf as opposed to 3/4 '' mdf? The box i have is from fatbox USA, and all their boxes are 1'' all the way around. 2004 Jeep Liberty Limited 2 13w7s skar 3500 cnf mids (soon) xs batteries
xxgokouxx Posted May 8, 2014 Report Posted May 8, 2014 That's a lot of money for some boxes, I saw their 13w7 "competition stuff" It takes half the cost of the subwoofer itself.
hdorre Posted May 8, 2014 Report Posted May 8, 2014 Less prone to flex. More for the subs screws to "bite" in to on the baffle. Karkov Posted May 8, 2014 Report Posted May 8, 2014 1" is great because less flex, has more pro's than cons IMO but cons would be price, and if you need 3/4 to fit your application whatever that may be, also 1" is a lot harder to find, and maybe weight for what that would matter Otherwise 1" all the way 2007 Chevy Tahoe (SOLD) 12 ~ FI Audio X series 10" w/BP option 2 ~ DC Audio 5.0K @0.67 3 ~ DC Audio 5.0K @1.0 2 ~ PPI 3 way sets (not installed yet) 1 ~ RF T400-4, 1 ~ RF T600-2, 1 ~ RF T600-4 4 ~ CT Sounds 5.25" Strato comps (rear fill only) 1 ~ XS Power D4800 1 ~ XS Power D3400 8 ~ XS Power XP3000 160 stock alt, Mechman 370 Elite, 185 DC Power 320+ Sq. TCooper Posted May 8, 2014 Report Posted May 8, 2014 Flex depending on woofer and power. With the 1 inch you potentially have less of the woofer's energy being "leaked" away in box flex.
noobslayer77 Posted May 8, 2014 Author Report Posted May 8, 2014 Cool. Thats what i figured. And yea their competition boxes are retarded expensive. I just got a regular box. 2004 Jeep Liberty Limited 2 13w7s skar 3500 cnf mids (soon) xs batteries
