Was wondering about mounting my amp on my box, how frowned upon would this be?

I got my box in the other day, and the guy ended up making it a little too long. And my amps won't fit between my box and seats unless sitting at an angle.. I was wondering if it was okay to mount the Amp on the top of my box? I know it's usually frowned upon, but this box is 1.5" Thick all around.. (Doubled 3/4 MDF) Would it be fine if I used short screws? Or would it still be bad? Also sorry about poor picture quality, didn't noticed till I uploaded it on my computer..

I would HIGHLY advise to not do it.

Don't want to mess up even the smallest solder joint.

Try to find some rubber washers to squish between the amp and the box. Since the box is 1.5" on all sides, you really should be fine without them. It's just an extra piece of mind though. I don't think you'll have any problems at ALL.

Edit-Maybe it's peace of mind? I've never thought about which piece/peace would be used in that saying....time to Google.

Ive seen this go both ways. Should you, no can you yes. I would just becareful when you do because you can vibrate things loose inside your amp. With that thick of a baffle you should be ok but i would recommend finding an alternate location.

I agree, if you absolutely HAVE to do it find some rubber you can shove under the feet of the amp.

I can recone a sub myself. About a year ago I took 2 12" power acoustic mofos and made one sub. I took the magnet and the motor off of one and j b welded it to the other motor and magnet. I had to wind my own voice coil so it would work. After I was done hooked up to 2 boss 5000w amps. And shattered my back and all my side windows

came to this thread to recommend soundqubed and ct sounds. OP goes with soundstream.

Long as u use some sort of rubber mounting feet to dissipate the vibrations from the box, you should be ok. Notice I say should, there will always be a risk when mounting on the box. Personally my amps are mounted at a decline (mounted to the rear of my back seats) and haven't had an issue in 2 plus yrs.

Also, when I said YOU buy rubber washers, I meant the guy that built your box. If you two were clear on the detail that you did NOT want to mount your amp to the box and that room was supposed to be left for that, he should have either told you it was not possible with the design, or left you room like you two had agreed on.

Make him drop the $2(if that) on the rubber you'll need. I realize it's not a BIG money thing, but the principle is important.

This comment is meant light heartedly, but does have some seriousness to it. I'd make him buy me a beer ;) (and the washers)

No there's plenty of room I just had it sitting up there for the picture..

I have the room to mount it behind my back seat, but idk if ill be able to actually mount it on the type of metal that's on the flipdown behind my seats
