  • 2 weeks later...

About time i updated this! First of all, we tested with a termlab at the passanger headrest PD style with some tones on our 3 x 12's megane hatch build.

20Hz 138

25Hz 141.9

30Hz 144.7

32Hz 145.5

33Hz 145.4

34Hz 145

35Hz 145.5

40Hz 144.2

So it seems to be playing pretty flat around the sweet spot we wanted, this is with the dbxii4000 wired to 1.33. Havent tried to measure box rise yet but we reckon they are getting close to 1k each. We have a banner 110ah leisure battery in the boot and so far standard alt and front battery, voltage drops into the low 13's at worst at the moment.

.

So...plans for the future include a brace for the rear doors to stop them flapping, and strengthened roof to see what effect it has on the scores, and also a de-regged alt. Would be nice to get a little closer to 147/8 without changing the box much as we like how it sounds on music (still does around 144+ with music), so we'll see what any changes do.

Next up we wired in the amp to the saxo wall, again running 1.33 so around 3k shared between the 6 JBL's, tested in the same way and we hit a 149.## cant remember exactly but i'll try and dig out a picture later. This was at 33Hz which is the peak we were looking for. Lots more to do on this build including properly sealing around and underneath the box, and blocking off the sunroof area. Expecting easy 150's now once it is done, and maybe even a 150+ average PD style. really pleased so far!

Outstanding woodwork and craftsmanship. Really love it! I'm in the middle of a wall build with 8 12s myself (my second wall ever) and I can say I picked up an idea or two here from your build. Did you do any bracing vertically in that shell?

Thanks guys :) Really pleased that it impressing. Hatch builds are a challenge, not many people have done 150+ from the boot over here so it's something to try and aim for.

Polar-bass, No vertical bracing inside the box at the moment, we may add it in the future when chasing numbers but its pretty solid already, base is screwed down, and the top is screwed up into 2x3s that are bonded to the roof structure.
