Wow very that was an Amazingly Thorough step by step.

What would u charge to fix an amp of mine? looks like a couple mosfets need replaced.

Thanks :good:

HUGE difference between refurbing and repairing.

Refurbing is easy, assuming the amp is fully functional.

Repairing is a whole other can of worms.

I wouldn't want to appear to be offering my "services" as that may violate the terms of the forum. I really appreciate the interest, but I don't want to violate my membership.

I'm in the middle of another refurb that I agreed to and it snowballed into a whole other project trying to get the amp to work, and that's with schematics.

I would need access to schematics in order to properly troubleshoot an amp and they are usually impossible to acquire.

Keep in mind that there could be MUCH more wrong with the amp besides just the damaged parts. Unless you get to the root cause, the replaced FETs could simply keep blowing and that's dangerous considering how some FETs fail.

Anyhow I have two other amps in queue that I also agreed to work on that I haven't gotten to yet as well.

Plus I'm in the middle of some big home renovations so I'm so slammed at the moment, I wouldn't even be able to get to it.

I'll need some time to clear out all my other projects to see where I'm at from there.

Thanks for the offer though. :drinks:

Man that was great Wicks!

Thanks Colin!

Stay tuned. There's more coming along these lines.......eventually......when I can get back to them. :o

Awesome thread. I have the same PPI amp that needs a refurb, would you consider taking on a job, cheers, Brian from Australia

Thx, much appreciated!

I wish I could but I'm a bit too busy with other side projects at the moment.
