Been away from car audio far to long

A nicely tuned ported enclosure MAY be a possibility then, depending on the drivers you used and how useable the rear needs to be afterwards. another member on here put forth that the low end doesn't entail but 15% of the range of frequencies one can hear, so it's not as dire as one may like to believe. Or something. Anyways, the argument was that a good front stage is far more important for SQ than the low end, which I can't dispute the logic behind it.

A T-Line may well be "better" for SQ, but as he said, the work and money spent isn't worth it over a well tuned ported enclosure.

Sundown has done a good job of effectively building huge beastly Sq subs. The X and Zv4 series are both high excursion monsters, but have an amazingly linear response. I don't know how many people use them for this purpose since the get loud and low and work great for hair tricks, but if you ever model them in say a ported enclosure you will find authority in the low end around tuning and a flat response thereafter.

If I'm not mistaken the smd woofers are the same. Huge power handling abilities, loud enough to hurt, and amazingly accurate.

Now where near the same level of output, and the quality of the driver is questionable by some, but the Kappa Perfect series from years ago modeled quilte nicely. More specifically, the Perfect 10.1 in a 27Hz tuned enclosure, nice flat response... before factoring in any sort of external factors like cabin gain.

If you really want to go SQ, don't worry on the sub too much. Focus on a solid front stage, well installed : solid baffles, dampener, imaging, time alignement,...

You can take almost any sub and make it sound right in the good enclosure.

If you want loud and clean sounding subs, take a look at thos AA Havoc, or at the SSA line for example. They all work well in ported and sealed enclosures.

black BMW X1 2.0 l 192 hp

OEM head unit, Amplifiers Audison AP 8.9 amp with integrated DSP and Ampere Audio 1200.

Focal ES 100 K in front doors, and Dayton RS 180 for midbass under the front seats.

2 SSA DEMONS 10" subs, in a 2.6 ft3  ported box. SecondSkin Damplifier on front doors, and Luxury Liner Pro for the cargo area.
