rtyauch301 Posted June 18, 2014 Report Posted June 18, 2014 its been a good while since i built a box and am unsure where to start on a SUV i dont want another wall.. currently have my old sub wall and amp's that i ran in a cavileer in the back of my 06 durango. it does not seem as loud as it should be i am thinking its the box.. i have 6 old Diamond D3 10's on 3000 wats RMS.. i drive a truck so this is the best picture i have right now will be home friday and want to build the box then.
timc31610 Posted June 18, 2014 Report Posted June 18, 2014 For one, if that box was in a cavalier and sealed off it would be much louder than sitting in the back of your durango. The durango has a lot more open airspace to pressurize. Also, from my experience sub uo port back is pretty loud in an suv. TDZ13 Posted June 19, 2014 Report Posted June 19, 2014 That enclosure/converted wall is far from optimum in ur durango... I'd switch to sub up/port back, prolli in the neighborhood of 1.25-1.5ft3 per @ 30-35hz depending on ur preferences in music w/ 15-20in2 of port per woofer. 2006 Hyundai Sonata Lx - Alpine CDA-9885 - Rainbow CSX Comps - (2) 12" Sundown Zv4 - Sundown 5K - 4.6ft3 @ 33hz w/ 6" aeros sealed off in trunk - 250a Singer alt, Kinetik 1400, (2) 2400s - 150.4 @ Dash as of now
rtyauch301 Posted June 19, 2014 Author Report Posted June 19, 2014 i prefer around 33... i didnt think that that box would be ideal just didnt realize how bad it was untill i put it in their. im saving up for some diffirent subs and a 2nd alternmator im thinking 2 nightshade 15's or 4 hdc3's and im ordering 2 more american bass 100.1's.. but i would still rather this sound right untill i can get that done. but anyway thanks port up subs back
Joe X Posted June 19, 2014 Report Posted June 19, 2014 That box looks like it was involved in a fire or worse.. I would start over with new subs and all, hopefully two 15s that work in lower net can be done there subs up / port back.
rtyauch301 Posted June 19, 2014 Author Report Posted June 19, 2014 that box is was built in 2007 but yea it is pretty rough i didnt have much to spend back then or much for wood working tools
rtyauch301 Posted June 20, 2014 Author Report Posted June 20, 2014 took your advice droped the 10's and ordered 2 15's gonna strap them on the 100.1's at 1 ohm
