DC level 4 , 10s or 12s?? 4th order? haalp

before i start, I'm a novice in the beginning stages of learning about real audio setups.. used to the old regular ported/sealed boxes from back in the day and that was all....

anywho, i have a hifonics brutus elite BE2500.1D.. specs: 1ohm - 1 x 2500 // 2ohm - 1 x 1700

I'm aware the amp will be under powering 2 level 4s but had a talk with someone into car audio and said i wouldn't really notice the -300 watts.. true?

i want a 4th order mainly to reduce trunk rattle and i want that clean, flowing, pounding bass you can feel from a far.. can i get that from 2 12"s? some people are saying 2 10"s can do that for me.. but i thought 12s would be more efficient for my goals due to size but as i said, I'm new so i could be wrong.. my trunk & space isn't a problem, i don't use it and the car isn't that much a daily so i could use however much space i need. does level 4s do good in 4th orders? port would be in the rear deck towards the back glass.

also i have around 8/850 $ to play with on subs if anyone has any recommendations that would prove better than my idea lol.. if it helps i play a lot of reggae and the reason i was told not to go sundown was because they drop too low for the music i play... (not a VS. convo just want some experienced dudes to chime in lol) i heard DC and not sundown so yeah... lol

thanks in advance

From things I've heard id buy sundown over dc. An X series sub in a 4th order on that amp would be perfect, they play really well in 4th orders. And just because they CAN play super low doesn't necessarily mean the high end will be sacrificed cause that's the whole point of 4th orders. And also if it does play really low that doesn't mean you have to listen to music that low lol if I were in your shoes I'd be looking at Sundown X 10s or 12s

at first i wanted those! the sundown look so beefy, but i read the page about it and this has me stumped..

"Due to the extremely low level of suspension induced distortion the typical "punchy" upper-bass peak in the 40s-60s Hz range that occurs with traditional woofers when pushed to high excursion does not occur. "

anyone can clear that up for me or does that mean what I'm guessing? i need that bass note that'll hit a lot of different genres perfect. basically a daily setup..

They are making a "SPL" cone for the X and ZV4 series that are meant to give traditional sound if thats what you prefer... you would have to contact them directly but I've heard talk over on caco! it was the reason I initially veered away from the X series because I prefer traditional as I don't listen to decaf all day everyday... If you go X series just contact Sundown through email and have them build you one with the spl cone, i dont believe it will be anymore expensive then buying it with the mega roll surround

sorry for the late reply... so can someone just clear up what the "spl cone" would be doing for me? to be honest, the music i listen to such as reggae etc doesn't drop so low that everyone looks like they use the x series subs for.. but id love to have that at my dispense. but thats my whole reasoning to go after the level 4s cus I'm pretty sure they're an all around sub (correct me if I'm wrong) any other takers? lol completely lost at what i should go for...

It would make the x sound more normal on higher hertz bass notes from what I understand.

750??! Yeah, fuck that. Fuck this website, fuck SMD, fuck Steve, fuck all of his butt buddy mods, and their couches.

What's considered the drop off point for x's then? Around 45 hz? 50? 60?
