Masongotspl Posted July 20, 2014 Report Posted July 20, 2014 I have been searching and searching on how to check the load on my amp. I wired my sub (t2d215) a long time ago. I kind of got out of being a bass head for a while, but the purchase of all new components and a pioneer nex receiver makes me never want to leave my car. The box is anchored to the trunk, so taking the sub out is not an option. Is there any way to tell if it's wired series or parallel with a multimeter!? Any help is appreciated!!
OrionStang Posted July 20, 2014 Report Posted July 20, 2014 Probe the speaker wires coming out of the subwoofer box with the multimeter. SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
byers319 Posted July 20, 2014 Report Posted July 20, 2014 First thing to pop on google https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gSgTlTUqNnQ Chances are you're at 1 wired parallel since it's a d2
Masongotspl Posted July 20, 2014 Author Report Posted July 20, 2014 I set my multimeter on ohms, and did this before I posted. The reading I got was 2 ohm on the money. That is impossible with one 2 ohm sub right? So I figured that was the way to figure how many ohms the sub is, not the load it's putting on amp.
byers319 Posted July 20, 2014 Report Posted July 20, 2014 You have options of 1 or 4 Edit: only one t2d215 correct? Positive thats the sub you have?
Masongotspl Posted July 20, 2014 Author Report Posted July 20, 2014 I understand that, but why am I getting a reading of 2?
OrionStang Posted July 20, 2014 Report Posted July 20, 2014 You need to pull the sub. Even if its a pain in the ass. If you are 100% certain its a D2, then you either have only one vc wired, or there is an issue with the sub. SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
Masongotspl Posted July 20, 2014 Author Report Posted July 20, 2014 I thank everyone for all of the help. I found the problem. After searching and searching google, I read to touch both probes together, when I did this the reading was 1ohm. . 2 ohms(reading I was getting) minus the 1 ohm(my dmm has) = 1 ohm load on my amp. THANKS AGAIN!
OrionStang Posted July 20, 2014 Report Posted July 20, 2014 Might want to invest in a better DMM. 1 ohm resistance between probes is HIGH. SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
