Keith77
thats replacing them all ^ Thats cool. Im way too old to be upset by shit like that. Your name is winston. Your own parents hated you even before you were born. My penis is bigger than your penis I'm far from loud and my roof/headliner flaps around like Adam's ass on a windy day. I think it depends more on the structure of the vehicle.
OrionStang
Yup i would check the Ring and pinoin Bearings That would be included in ALL. thats replacing them all ^ Word. 1badgsd
Were you able to find out exactly what failed?
OrionStang
Its a bearing for sure. Which one won't be known until Friday, finally getting it fixed then. Ill have my mechanic save the bad parts for pics. I just hope there is no gear damage from any metal that has broken off of the bad bearings. Jessica
do you have the "corporate" or a 9"? Rest in peace, walled 87 accord build log 03' Corolla build with AA Mayhem inside. OrionStang
Haven't heard that term for a Mustang, but 8.8" with factory 3.73's. Pretty bullet proof, axles are the weak link over 600hp with sticky tires. SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
Jessica
8.8, yeah what i meant. I looked up 9" posi's and they are insane at $900. Fuck that, that is a $500 part at best. I hate inflation. OrionStang
Gladly the parts I need are cheap, and im getting free replacements for the carbon fiber clutch packs in the LSD. But labor is retarded. SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
OrionStang
I was wondering; would worn and broken axle bearings cause any sort of noticeable drag as far as 0-60 and 1/4 mile times are concerned? Effect highway gas mileage? SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
1badgsd
If your bearings are dragging they are reducing efficiency. The bearings are going to heat up and transfer the heat to the gears and clutch discs. I would look very carfully at the gears for signs of heat (discoloration). I have serviced a handful of the 8.8's and they are very good axles and cheap to service. It is a labor intensive job and requires some special tools. Corporate axles are mostly found in GM vehicles and newer (I think 05 ish and up) Dodges. I'd like to hear a follow up/pictures on what your problem ends up being, sounds interesting.
