max785 Posted July 25, 2014 Report Posted July 25, 2014 Hi, I just switched my 2 sa-12 for a pair of sa-8v2 2 ohm. I planning to use them for sq at first ( and sql ). People told me that they don't do good in sealed box. Should I follow sundown recommended box ? What you guys think ? 2001 civic dx 2 X sa12's " 1 X aq1200d Knukonceptz 4 gauge , rca
Joe X Posted July 25, 2014 Report Posted July 25, 2014 0.6 cubic feet net @32Hz with 11-12 square inches of port area (all per driver) will give you a flatter more SQ oriented performance from those SA-8V2s
gckless Posted July 25, 2014 Report Posted July 25, 2014 ^^This. But if you're doing any kind of serious SQ, I would use other drivers. Sounds like you may not be super critical though, so they should do fine. "Clipping" is the biggest forum boner now. It's like witchcraft... it automatically explains just about everything people don't understand. max785 Posted July 25, 2014 Author Report Posted July 25, 2014 Good thanksDo you know someone that could make me a cutsheet for those specs ? 2001 civic dx 2 X sa12's " 1 X aq1200d Knukonceptz 4 gauge , rca
Joe X Posted July 25, 2014 Report Posted July 25, 2014 So here is a suggestion, power: to subs rated, amp subsonic filter to 28Hz, minimum port clearance 2 3/4", figure is just an assembly guide:NOTE: If building outside you need to build a cardboard dummy box to test fit in it's way inside.
max785 Posted July 26, 2014 Author Report Posted July 26, 2014 Thanks !No 45 degres in the corners ? Whats is the distance on each side of the sub holes ? 2001 civic dx 2 X sa12's " 1 X aq1200d Knukonceptz 4 gauge , rca
Joe X Posted July 26, 2014 Report Posted July 26, 2014 I redrew the figure to look like the actual thing, the sub locations are on the center of the baffle in a way that the sub cutouts are about 3 1/2" apart, no 45s except the one at the turn of the port, IF and only IF you can do it perfectly, at the turn the 45 needs to be done in a way that the port width is 2 3/4". Any other questions, let me know.
max785 Posted July 28, 2014 Author Report Posted July 28, 2014 Are you sure 8" for the height is enought ? The cut-out for the sub is 7 3/8" and the outside diameter is 8 3/8" ... 2001 civic dx 2 X sa12's " 1 X aq1200d Knukonceptz 4 gauge , rca
Joe X Posted July 28, 2014 Report Posted July 28, 2014 Are you sure 8" for the height is enought ? The cut-out for the sub is 7 3/8" and the outside diameter is 8 3/8" ... Yes sir, the total enclosure height as you can read above is 9.5" = 8" + 3/4" + 3/4", here's the pic with the top side on and the external diameter of the subs outlined: Now if you don't mind to cut the port square on the baffle which is really hard to do right for some people, here's the same exact design with a different assembly style: The following figure is just an assembly guide so not to scale like the one above.
