Traditional Vent vs Vent Tubes?

Recommended Posts

hey guys i wanna have more knowledge about these i was wondering if anyone could help.

So heres the deal, i can get a guy to build a sub box for me but the only way he will port the box is using flared vent tubes he doesn't actually make the traditional port you see in boxes because my cars room for airspace is veryyyy limited.

Now my question is, from common judgment i would figure traditional vents would sound a lot better but what is your guys opinion about vent tubes? He said the vent tube would tune the box to about 32hz and the box my subs were in was tuned to 32hz (with a traditional port) but my old box doesn't fit in my new car. If there tuned to the same what would make the subs sound different?they both have the same airspace as well its just that my new car requires way more dimensions to fit properly instead of dropping the old box in (its too tall) sorry I'm a noob when it comes to boxes but just want to know if its worth getting it ported with a tube or just sticking with sealed.

Krakin's Home Dipole Project

Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist?

I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . .

What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself

but what has drawn your attention

in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums

An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space

Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears,

thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener.
