Jared420 Posted August 8, 2014 Report Posted August 8, 2014 So a couple days ago when my head unit turns on I am getting a high pitched whining noise through my speakers. Its not very loud but if no music is playing you can hear it pretty well. The noise seems to become higher pitched as I accelerate so when my rpms go up. I plan to start trouble shooting this weekend but I was wondering what could be some possible causes of this to suddenly occur like that. I was going to start by checking and cleaning up all ground connections. Then checkout if any wires are near RCAS and rca connections. My setup is in my sig but I have a 4 channel alpine running the speakers. I have pretty much an independent electrical system for the sound system. I have my 2nd alternator directly to my second battery which is not tied to my stock battery so the 2nd battery powers both amps. I did this because in the newer GMs the charging systems sometimes only maintains around 13v so my second alternator has its own regulator to keep it charging normally. (all came with the kit from DC Power) any ideas and help are appreciated. 2012 silverado ext cab ltz 24" kmc rims AudioQue 2200 Pioneer AppRadio Alpine mrx f35 4 channel Bose mids and highs Iraggi Alt + stock alt in a DC power dual alternator kit Yellowtop+stock under hood 0 gauge Knu wire Big 3 4 gauge stinger (4 chan wiring) 3 DC 10'' LVL3 with LVL4 parts
Ahmed Johnson Posted August 8, 2014 Report Posted August 8, 2014 I had a similar problem in my trailblazer. In my case, the ground at the back of the HU wasn't connecting that good so I got some 22 awg and stuck it in the harness where the ground connections are at. Does your truck have the bose amp in it?
Jared420 Posted August 8, 2014 Author Report Posted August 8, 2014 Yes it does but I am running the speakers off the alpine amp so I'm thinking the only thing the Bose amp is doing might be powering the little 6.5" woofer under the console? 2012 silverado ext cab ltz 24" kmc rims AudioQue 2200 Pioneer AppRadio Alpine mrx f35 4 channel Bose mids and highs Iraggi Alt + stock alt in a DC power dual alternator kit Yellowtop+stock under hood 0 gauge Knu wire Big 3 4 gauge stinger (4 chan wiring) 3 DC 10'' LVL3 with LVL4 parts
Jared420 Posted August 8, 2014 Author Report Posted August 8, 2014 So the ground on the HU fixed your issue? 2012 silverado ext cab ltz 24" kmc rims AudioQue 2200 Pioneer AppRadio Alpine mrx f35 4 channel Bose mids and highs Iraggi Alt + stock alt in a DC power dual alternator kit Yellowtop+stock under hood 0 gauge Knu wire Big 3 4 gauge stinger (4 chan wiring) 3 DC 10'' LVL3 with LVL4 parts
hispls Posted August 8, 2014 Report Posted August 8, 2014 Pioneer you say? Google "pico fuse pioneer" Otherwise have your batteries load tested and alternator tested. Either of those going bad can cause noise..... And other things of course but those have and will be mentioned
Jared420 Posted August 9, 2014 Author Report Posted August 9, 2014 Cleaned up all my grounds this morning, no more noise. Thanks for the ideas. Very happy it wasn't that pico fuse after I looked into it that sounded like it would have been a huge pain in the ass. 2012 silverado ext cab ltz 24" kmc rims AudioQue 2200 Pioneer AppRadio Alpine mrx f35 4 channel Bose mids and highs Iraggi Alt + stock alt in a DC power dual alternator kit Yellowtop+stock under hood 0 gauge Knu wire Big 3 4 gauge stinger (4 chan wiring) 3 DC 10'' LVL3 with LVL4 parts
