if you use matting...i'd say 5+ or more layers. at least. maybe a half inch worth? timmy would know. the cloth is a lil less sturdy...so i'd think more layers with that. but depends what you're using it for also. a box with a bunch of curves with fiberglass will be a lot stronger than a flat surface with the same thickness. the curves add strength to it

x2....if you were to just lay mat and resin flat, it would have to be almost as thick as the wood just to be as strong....it would be hella lighter tho....but if there a lot of curves, it will get really strong

I read an article in an old Car Audio & Electronics mag that said 1/4 of F/G is = to 3/4 inches of wood. Now we all know that the strongest part of Fiberglass is the "shaped/ non flat" areas so I would add some poly rope in the flat areas (GP2K2 trick)to add strength and rigidity to them.
