You could have had a lot less impedance rise with the one which produced a lot more power causing voltage drop. If you have the punch remote level control that is different. As some have suggested, don't turn the gain up and down, get it set properly with a Oscope or a DD-1. I knew not to have them up, that wasn't my issue... my issue, initially, was what to ACTUALLY set them at. Or at least a ball park estimate.
