russ7000 Posted September 2, 2014 Report Posted September 2, 2014 Sup folks..... I got 2 twelve's in a box and want to add one more 12" in a separate box.... My amp is strong enough it is a Mono 1200d kicker amp and it is not where close to half way pushing the woofers i have in it... I eventually want to upgrade to 2 15"inch subs but in the mean time i know i can add one more 12 right now just to get a little MO BASS if you know what i mean ..... Can someone tell me what are some of the things i need to look at when setting this up as far as Do I wire the 3rd sub directly to the amp or jump it off the box with 2 12's in it... What specs do I look for to make sure the woofers are compatible or do it matter ... I don't want to burn out my amp.... any other suggestions would help.... thx
evermaxx Posted September 2, 2014 Report Posted September 2, 2014 "any other suggestions would help.... thx " dont do it. Team Subsonic Lows Get your garbage EMF products of my amp bitch Man....it makes a nice work bench
walwalka Posted September 2, 2014 Report Posted September 2, 2014 regardless of how "strong" your amp is, There is another reason why it's only half pushing those subs. Adding one more sub isn't going to obtain MO BASS. First question: What impedance are the subs you currently have hooked up? 2010 Honda Civic LX / Deck: Kenwood DDX371 / Front Highs: Crescendo RTS-1 / Front Mids: Silver Flute 6.5's / 4 channel: DC Audio 90.4 / Sub: Fi 15in SP4v2 / Sub amp: Taramps HD 5000 / Power wire: Knukonceptz OFC 1/0 / Deadener: Audio Technix 60 mil / Batteries: XS Power D5100R / Rear bank: TBD / Alternator: Singer 240a hairpin

Jessica Posted September 2, 2014 Report Posted September 2, 2014 if you are at 2 ohms then adding a sub you will have to increase your impedance and lose power. i doubt you will gain anything. If you lower impedance than you risk smoking your amp. i wouldnt do it in your case. Rest in peace, walled 87 accord build log 03' Corolla build with AA Mayhem inside. MaxVolume Posted September 2, 2014 Report Posted September 2, 2014 If the amp is really barely pushing your subs, then you don't need another sub. Take that money and put it towards a more powerful amplifier. It's not very effective to put a beast sub on low power, the same way it's not very efficient to power some cheap subs on a monster amp. Play the matching game when it comes to equipment specs.

I just want to add another sub and need to know how to wire it

I just want to add another sub and need to know how to wire it you wont be able to stay at 2 ohms. sell all the subs and boxes and buy circle woofers that can handle more power.
reedal Posted September 2, 2014 Report Posted September 2, 2014 Instead of buying another 12 and changing the impedance that have wired to your amp, you already stated you plan on buying two 15's, so why not save your money, buy two 15's to replace your 12's that are ~600W a piece to utilize the 1200RMS that you can get clean from that amp, and that saves you money in the long run, instead buying a third 12, and then buying two 15's and getting rid of the 12's. Two 15's = more cone area = "MO BASS" SMD Tool Map https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/193176-smd-tool-map-new-november-2014/ Build log https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/197217-reeds-03-tahoe-hat-sqaq-singer-xs-shca-cockbox-80prs/?page=32
