Syphlyn Posted September 4, 2014 Report Posted September 4, 2014 Got around to building my first box. I think it turned out pretty good. One of the sides isn't glued because I'll have to add my brass bolt through the box for the wiring. Also the top baffle isn't glued on either. Took about 6 hours plus an hour sanding the part of the port that runs through the baffle so it's flush with the box walls. The speaker cutout + port cutout was done separately on each baffle piece with a jigsaw lol... For anyone wondering: For a 12 inch Zv4 2.8 cubic feet @ 31hz Port width 2.75 inches (probably a touch more due to a slight error) I was planning on flush mounting the woofer but due to the limited space on the baffle I thought it'd provide the most support for the woofer like this. Triticum Agricolam Posted September 4, 2014 Report Posted September 4, 2014 Looks good! How does it sound? "Nothing prevents people from knowing the truth more than the belief they already know it.""Making bass is easy, making music is the hard part."Builds:
Syphlyn Posted September 4, 2014 Author Report Posted September 4, 2014 No idea yet...sadly. Subwoofer is still in the build process I'm guessing. I ordered it last Thursday after my X arrived back at SSA. I ended up shipping back the X12 (didn't even open) and upgraded to the Zv4. My mechman 240A is also being built, ordered it last Thursday as well. Should all be in by the 25th or so of Sept. I have to drive down to Washington to pick it all up. Look below in the circles, more specifically the pink one where the double baffle meets the box wall it wasn't even and had a ledge probably 1/8 - 1/4 of an inch would I assume would be bad for the air flow, so I sanded it. Syphlyn Posted September 4, 2014 Author Report Posted September 4, 2014 Its impressive how much thought and time you put into this Hey man, gotta do it right. First box build, better to have questions before building rather then during or even after haha... REH Posted September 4, 2014 Report Posted September 4, 2014 Looks really clean, nice job. I am puzzled though on why you said you didn't glue one of the sides and your baffle though? You mentioned not doing it due to needing to install bolts for wire connections, but that can be done through the sub cutout lol. Such a long wait on your woofer and alt, that would drive me crazy! Gives all the time in the world for perfecting everything on the box and having the car completely ready to plug and play though.
