So say we have a 2000 rms sub, is it better to get a 2000 rms amp or a slightly higher 1 to compesate the rise. Reason I ask is cause I see so many people matching exact ratings. OrionStang Posted September 12, 2014 Report Posted September 12, 2014 If its a daily enclosure, don't worry about box rise. Matching a sub and amp RMS is a safe way to pair gear together. Let's say for example running a sundown saz2500d at 1ohm and rise reaches 2 ohms(1200w) and sub is an hdc3 that would match well?? If that were the case, a 500 watt RMS woofer paired with a 500 watt RMS amplifier set up as perfect as could be... The woofer would be getting damaged every time it's not being played at full tilt. Underpowering isn't anything that will damage, as long as the signal is clean.

The way it's worded seemed like you were saying underpowering can damage (Which a lot of people say on here) so that's why I quoted and responded. I can see now where you also say about being properly set, the wording threw me off.
