I have a Brutus 2000.1D it won't even come out of protection mode after running it for 2 hours at 1ohm don't know why all wires are hooked up right and I have the big 3 and a good ground connection any input as to wwhy it would go into protection if everything else is okay?

So now I need a new 2000watt 1ohm amp what's a good choice?

I'm new to the group but not to car audio I just need some different view points on a new amp. Thanks in advance.

Does that sub require a 2000 watt amp?

The ones soccerballz mentioned are good choices. You could look at Soundqubed too.

Had a Brutus 2k, wasnt bad, beat the shit.out of it, but after a month of use I decided to try a soundqubed 2200 and the quality was way better and more efficient. I've heard many stories on hifonics amps getting stuck in protect and never coming back out.

Just looked at a SoundQubed, Fosgate and a Digital Designs on EBay I'm liking what I'm seeing.

I have rechecked all my grounds, sub wiring even my HU wiring their all good. I do hear a rattling sound when I move it but its still under warrenty.

Have you even tried to unhook the speaker wires and RCA's from it, leaving only the power/ground/remote and turning it on to see if you get the same result? You say you hooked it up at "1 ohm" for 2 hours, and now it won't leave protect... So you apparently did some changes to the system/new install and shortly after had issues. So it is quite possible that there are issues somewhere other than the amp itself. If you can't get it out of protect with unhooking everything from it, then it's screwed... but that would be the place to start.

I have the Brutus 1700.1D and while it couldn't do an actual 1700 RMS on it's best day, I have beat it to death and never had any issues.

Try the troubleshooting section in this manual. http://www.maxxsonics.net/manuals/hifonics/pdfs/HifonicsBrutusBRZ2010AmplifierManual.pdf

There is a way to connect the + and - briefly and that will sometimes bring the amp out of protect. I don't know the exact procedure off the top of my head so I don't want to give you wrong directions and fry your amp lol. Look at that manual though, the procedure is in there and will sometimes bring the amp out of protect. Try REH's method first, disconnecting one thing at a time, RCA's, speakers..... If it comes out of protect when one of these are unhooked, you either have the subs wired wrong, speaker wires have shorted or the RCA's have took a sh*t.

I would recommend a Crescendo S1500.1, it will get you about 1850w @ 1OHM in dynamic mode and it's only $300.
