4-6v golf cart batteries to make 12. Problem?

Recommended Posts

I got 4 BRAND NEW 6 volt batteries for my RV. Got them for free. If I wired them in series/parallel to get 12v, secured in the bed of my truck, would there be any problems? I know that XS power is the way to go hands down but I got these for FREE. What are the pros and cons? I know golf cart batteries have a longer run time and will run all the way down and limp me back to the clubhouse, But is there a big difference in the "BURST" power that I would get from an XS vs. the 6v golf cart/RV batteries?

Tuned in. Other than being really heavy, they should work but idk. Burst current says 2000 amps up to 5 sec so idk

Dont do it

Thanks alaskanzx5 I might just do that
I can recone a sub myself. About a year ago I took 2 12" power acoustic mofos and made one sub. I took the magnet and the motor off of one and j b welded it to the other motor and magnet. I had to wind my own voice coil so it would work. After I was done hooked up to 2 boss 5000w amps. And shattered my back and all my side windows

came to this thread to recommend soundqubed and ct sounds. OP goes with soundstream.

oh lawd.

I'm going to watch this thread, purely out of curiosity because in my mind it would work and be fine... so I just want to see when the smart guys chime in to see if I would have been right/wrong.

Dont do it

i dont see why it wouldn't work. two in series would float at 13.5v according to that data sheet

I'm not doubting it would work. Just not ideal in my opinion

do it.

i have seen guys wire up 12v power supplies using the 5v rails in series on 3 power supplies to get a 15v power supply for running mobile stuff in their homes.

Let us know how it goes.

I don't see a problem here. Go for it, sounds like you know what to do.

Be sure to post +/-900 pics as well
