Charger Posted April 7, 2008 Author Report Share Posted April 7, 2008 Spent a few hours this morning on the Jackaroo. First I drew on the sides where the clamshell goes. Took a few goes but in the end I came up with an angle I was happy with. Once I was happy, I traced over it in black texta to make it more readable. A quick trip down top Bunnings to pick up some timber and I was ready to start the frame for when the baffles attach. I marked it out to make sure everything lined up then carefully cut the angles with the compound mitre saw. I then applied a sh!it load of glue and screwed them firmly into place. If you look, you can see the provision for the baffles, which will be 54mm thick. These pieces really firmed up the strength of the enclosure and once the baffles are on it should be solid as all hell. You've got a keen eye if you notice what's wrong in this picture I also added a few more earths to the dodgy bus bars but still have to add the alternator charge cable. Charger Posted April 7, 2008 Author Report Share Posted April 7, 2008 Got fark all done this afternoon, had to run errands and it was almost dark before I even got any tools out. Started sanding and bogging the sides of the wall to get a smooth paintable finish. Has a long way to go still! I also put in the bottom piece that goes near the front of the wall, you'll see what I mean, strong as hell, no flex here. Hopefully finish sanding tomorrow and get them baffles done Any suggestions welcomed. Yes it does look like it's built like a tank! My friend rolled his car with a wall in it and the only thing stopping the car crushing was the wall so I'm not taking any chances. Plus if WW3 occurs soon I could always do with a bomb shelter Looking scary,how many 15's are going in there? Only six at this stage, I'd love more but Australian cars are so small, it's stupid. I wish I could get a hold of an Astro or For E Series Van over here but for now this will have to do.
