2k in civic coupe. Need alt & battery recommendations

hey, i helped my friend put my old skar 15 and sk3500 in his civic. Got it wired at 2 ohm, so that amp is rated around 2k at 2 ohm. He has completely stock electrical. Planning on doing a big3, just havent had time yet. I'm wondering what battery/alt combo to go with so that he can get a full 2k to it. I have the gain set really low and the bass boost off and it plays fine, and plenty loud. But we are planning on trying to get the most out of it. I have a shuriken bt60 laying around that needs to be charged, but i know that won't do much to help get to a clean 2k.

Thanks

Biggest alternator that Mechanic or whoever can make, biggest battery you can fit under the hood, and another battery in the rear. 1/0 all the way around.

really? all that for 2K. I figured maybe a mechman 270 and a big battery under the hood would do the trick. ~200 amp draw from the sk3500, about 150 amps suppled from alt and a ~60 Amp hour battery under the hood puts it right around 210 amps available. Why the extra batt?

What year Civic? Mine is a 2000 EX coupe and I have a Singer 260 amp alt XS power D5100R under the hood and an xs power d925 in the back. I run a DD M3b at .35 daily with barely any drop while in motion. I would think with a similar model civic just the alt and under hood battery would be enough for 2k.

Honestly it depends if he wants to spend money. He could easily get away with just an alternator upgrade on the stock battery and be fine. If you upgraded to a 250 or so amp alt that is plenty to supply the amp with the current necessary to make 2K watts. I would honestly do that before I just did a battery upgrade. However, looking at that end of the spectrum he could just drop in a group 31 off the stock alt and probably be okay, but more than likely have issues keeping the battery charged. With a 250 amp alt and only 2K watts the amp will probably never pull more than 180 amps maximum at any given time. It only takes 138 amps @ 14.4 volts to make 2K watts, but that is at 100% efficiency. Even if the amp did pull close to 180 amps that leaves 70 amps available to run all the accessories in the car at the same time as playing full tilt. I'm guessing that is never going to happen so my vote is for alt and stock battery or slightly upgraded stock battery and the alt as well.

Battery before alternator. A wet cell wont last long under the constant load of a big amplifier, whereas a AGM will.

My initial suggestion would be optimal, and would leave room for a bigger amplifier down the road. Since I don't know what kind of budget you're working with, I'm just saying that's what I would want to have for 2kw.

Really? Seems that isn't the issue in my wife's car. We have a 180 amp Mechman in it on a lead acid battery and it's going on 5 years now with no issues. I have always upgraded the alt in a vehicle before a battery.

The stock battery in the hondas are tiny as shit. I run a 2k rms system in my civic, I have an XS power D5100R under the hood and a Northstar G24 in the trunk paired with a 180amp DC power alternator. It does ok with the stock alt, but I would 1000% suggest getting one down the road. But batteries first, second I would find the how to bypass the eld guide here on the forums and do that. ASAP. Like now. More like yesterday.
