Orion Hcca Box Design Help

I talk to a fella about my new Orion HCCA 12.4, This guy works for a very high-end car audio store. He used the design software Bass Box Pro, and he told me to make my box 1.1^3 for 1 12" and to make the port 1"x12" and the port length would be 47" long!!!! He tells me the port takes more displacement that the enclosure itself! This would make the tuning 35Hz I think he's designing this to be responsive as possible and to be a nicley rounded enclosure Hz wise.

From what little I know all this info seems way out of whack!!!! I Know this guy knows what he's talking about because he's building a 1957 chevy bel-aire showcar for ZAPCO that will be at CES and SEMA.

He told me that the output of my speaker would be incredible but that it has a very narrow bandwidth which makes sense to me after looking on my software program.

Orion recommends 2.0^3 and 35Hz tuning with 20.25 square inches of port.

Whats going on here. Are these specs WAY OUTTA WHACK? Someone HELP ME!!!

Yes, that box would peak too much.

The bigger you make boxes, the "flatter" bass response they'll have.

There's more to it than that...depends on the sub and tuning also
