bigsausagepizza
That would be pretty cool, maybe someday when I have my own house. Although I do want to try a dipole project like Krakin, and those obviously can't be in-wall. 2008 Subaru WRX STI K&N Typhoon Intake Invidia Polished Stainless 3" turbo back with cat Cobb Accessport Dyno tune from Kaizen Tuning 320awhp 330ft-lb awtq MTX 421D Sub amp American Bass SQ900 Highs/Mids amp Sundown Audio SD-2 10 D4 JL Audio XR653-CS 3-way Components 3sixty.2 Second Skin Damplifier Pro Custom fiberglass wheel well enclosure Transmission Line quasi-floor enclosure http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/forum/13-member-rides-builds-show-off-your-whip-show-off-your-system/ Bill Fitzmaurice TLAH line-array hifi towers 9 Goldwood 4" mids (each) 12 Goldwood 1/2" tweeters (each) NAD 1020 Preamp MiniDSP 2x4 Balanced processor Thorens TD166mkII Turntable Hafler DH-200 Amplifier http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/192638-line-array-hifi-tower-build/ https://www.facebook.com/HolyMountainGlass
Krakin
Now it would be some pretty awesome architecture if you did do a dipole in the wall, to where the baffle is basically the inverse of a cutout for it. Krakin's Home Dipole Project http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/186153-krakins-dipole-project-new-reciever-in-rockford-science/#entry2772370 Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist? I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . . Triticum Agricolam
Hey bigsausagepizza I've got a couple questions for ya. How do you like those TLAHs? From what I read you sound pretty pleased, I was just wondering if you had compared them to any other speakers? How much did they cost you to put together? I've built a few BFM designs and have been looking at the TLAHs for a while. I've also been considering becoming a BFM authorized builder, just have to find the time. Anyway I'd love to give some kind of line array a try and these are at the top of my list. Triticum Agricolam
We will have to hear back from bigsausagepizza to hear what he used but my understanding is the recommended mids are these: http://www.parts-express.com/goldwood-gw-4028-s-4-woofer-shielded--290-373 And these are the recommended tweeters: http://www.parts-express.com/goldwood-gt-302-s-1-2-mylar-dome-tweeter-shielded--270-175 "Nothing prevents people from knowing the truth more than the belief they already know it.""Making bass is easy, making music is the hard part."Builds:

bigsausagepizza
Hey bigsausagepizza I've got a couple questions for ya. How do you like those TLAHs? From what I read you sound pretty pleased, I was just wondering if you had compared them to any other speakers? How much did they cost you to put together? I've built a few BFM designs and have been looking at the TLAHs for a while. I've also been considering becoming a BFM authorized builder, just have to find the time. Anyway I'd love to give some kind of line array a try and these are at the top of my list. Definitely give them a shot, if you build the rectangular version and don't inset them like I did you could probably build a pair in an afternoon or weekend. The soundstage on them is unbelievablely huge! I primarily listen to doom metal sorta stuff (like this: ), and the giant soundstage takes the music to another level. The last speakers I had before these were some old Polk Monitor 5JR+. Those very clear and had a nice flat response and didn't require a sub (amazing for just 6.5s with passive radiators). Compared to the polk's the TLAH brings out the smallest of details that the polk's were missing, and they're much more efficient, but I think the biggest difference is the size of the soundstage. I think that is mainly due to the line array arrangement, but having the cone area of a 12" mid on each tower doesn't hurt either. I also like the form factor, a box for a 12" mid would be much larger and more awkward to place. The TLAHs are designed to be up against the wall (preferably in a corner) and that really helps with placement in small/medium size rooms, whereas with traditional designs you want 1m of free space around the speakers. You really can't go wrong with these, if you don't end up liking them it shouldn't be hard to sell them since they look so fucking cool. 2008 Subaru WRX STI K&N Typhoon Intake Invidia Polished Stainless 3" turbo back with cat Cobb Accessport Dyno tune from Kaizen Tuning 320awhp 330ft-lb awtq MTX 421D Sub amp American Bass SQ900 Highs/Mids amp Sundown Audio SD-2 10 D4 JL Audio XR653-CS 3-way Components 3sixty.2 Second Skin Damplifier Pro Custom fiberglass wheel well enclosure Transmission Line quasi-floor enclosure http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/forum/13-member-rides-builds-show-off-your-whip-show-off-your-system/ Bill Fitzmaurice TLAH line-array hifi towers 9 Goldwood 4" mids (each) 12 Goldwood 1/2" tweeters (each) NAD 1020 Preamp MiniDSP 2x4 Balanced processor Thorens TD166mkII Turntable Hafler DH-200 Amplifier http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/192638-line-array-hifi-tower-build/ https://www.facebook.com/HolyMountainGlass
Triticum Agricolam
Yeah I really want to build a pair for pretty much all the reasons you like them. My biggest problem is finding the time, I always have too much to do and never enough time. My other restriction is I have to make them look nice or my wife won't let them in the house :-( "Nothing prevents people from knowing the truth more than the belief they already know it.""Making bass is easy, making music is the hard part."Builds:
