noobslayer77 Posted November 5, 2014 Report Posted November 5, 2014 hey my head unit keeps freezing when i turn the bass up. the song keeps playing. but none of the controls work n i have to turn it off thenon agian. anyone had this problem? Also, sometimes with heavy bass, the speakers cut out, bass keeps playing, then speakers come back on in a second or two. if i hold my hand on the HU, it helps, but sometimes it still happens. 2004 Jeep Liberty Limited 2 13w7s skar 3500 cnf mids (soon) xs batteries

Just looking for an idea if you're running a truck load of bass or if just a single 12 is causing this issue? I have OCCASIONAL issues with my X997 freezing in some of the menus, but it keeps playing, just locks up in the menu and I can't exit till I shut down and restart the unit. Not related to bass, not a voltage issue, guessing software. noobslayer77 Posted November 24, 2014 Author Report Posted November 24, 2014 yea mine does the same thing it just happens all the time and the screen goes black or freezes or spazzes out. I just can't access the menus when it freezes. it keeps playing tho. Sometimes the speakers n tweets cut out n then come back on, I think that may be an amp related issue because if it was from the HU then the bass would cut too, i'd think. Anyway thats a diff can of worms and rarely happens. The head unit is a year old. its not low voltage, voltage stays around 12.8 and up at idle (full tilt). 14 and up with a few rpm on full tilt. subs are 2 13w7 ported. never metered but i'd guess around 130 maybe. pushing a 1200 to both. got big 3 and d3400 up front with a aftermarket alt, not name brand, and it probably sucks but it does fine im not running too much power 2004 Jeep Liberty Limited 2 13w7s skar 3500 cnf mids (soon) xs batteries
SIDE SHOW Posted November 25, 2014 Report Posted November 25, 2014 try take the deck out and check all connections at the rear (even the main harness might be coming loose or unclipped) also take the face plate off the deck and clean the metal contacts. if that doesn't help at all try to reset the unit (small button on faceplate) and then reset all your settings again
