bigbass888 Posted November 7, 2014 Report Posted November 7, 2014 i just picked up 3 rfr2212's in a sealed box with a old school rockford power 800a2. I legit got them for 20 dollars at a swap meet in canton ohio the guy didnt know what they were or if they worked he got them out of a junk car. (believe it or not but i did it lol) i thought they were just some cheaper rockfords till i took them out of the box to test them and i almost shit. So i start doing research and find out that they are animals 1000rms each. So i know im under powered but heres my question. Its a sealed 3 12 box thats way two small would i get deeper bass by just running two in a 4 foot cubed dual 12 enclosure. Or should i run all 3 in the sealed box. My other problem is i could get a 3 12 ported box thats bigger but i just dont have the trunk space input please and thank you. also plan on upgrading to 2-3 soundstream rubi 1000.1's i have a soundstream lil wonder on my type x 10 atm and it gets pretty low im assuming the 3 12's even under powered in a small sealed box will destroy my type x. also where could i look for a recone kit for these id like to take two of them and make them 15's? ok so heres my questions in order 1. 3 12's sealed vs 2 12's ported bigger box 2. 2 rfr 12's vs 2 type x 10s how much louder will the 12's be? 3. can i recone these to 15's if so how much would that run me and where do i go? 4. should i feel bad for how bad i robbed the poor guy at the swap meet? lol
rockFord_Expedition Posted November 7, 2014 Report Posted November 7, 2014 Damn you got some nice 4" voice coils there! Those subs are dual 4 ohm coils right? With that rf amp, and the wiring options you have with 4 voice coils vs. 6 I would say that the 2 subs in a ported box will be louder than 3 sealed. You might want to reword question #2 as versus threads are frowned upon. Old School/New School RF Build March 2015 SOTM Winner How to crimp large wire
Souldrop Posted November 7, 2014 Report Posted November 7, 2014 1. Depends on a lot of info like tuning, car, listening taste, etc. 2. Depends on install. VS threads are generally locked because generally there is no good answer. 3. Yes, you can. fixmyspeaker.com can or maybe someone on the forums. You can yourself if you're ambitious. They will not be the same driver as if you had bought them new. T/S specs will be changed 4. I'll give you $40 for + shipping and then you won't have to fell bad anymore. j/k great deal though 1997 Lexus ES300 HU - Pioneer MVH 7350 Processor - Helix DSP Front Stage - JBL P660C Mid/high amp - Alpine PDX-F4 Subs - 1 IA Death Penalty 12 Sub Amp - Cactus Sounds PF300.1

Joe X Posted November 7, 2014 Report Posted November 7, 2014 Definitely number 4 but since you are not doing that, post max box dims you can make to see if a 3 sub ported setup is doable.
