Krakin
A house has different acoustics then a Car less power in watts needed. It is the exact opposite. A house will have less spatial loading resulting in less of a natural boost in SPL. The only reason people don't have tens of thousands of watts in home is because it would destroy electric bills and sound bad. Krakin's Home Dipole Project http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/186153-krakins-dipole-project-new-reciever-in-rockford-science/#entry2772370 Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist? I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . . What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself but what has drawn your attention in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears, thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener. Sorry I took it as you were saying it takes less to be louder in the house than the car. Miguels
Fi had some 10's on sale for like $85 i got a pair just to try them out i really like that Dayton MK and might be what im looking for. i wont get 4 but maybe just 1 15' or 18' i'm going to change the title the thread since i have more questions the receiver i have can be wired down to 6 ohms. i always wanted to build my system from top to bottom but at 6 ohms i am having difficulty finding any drivers and tweeters. i was looking into some crossovers and could not find any that works at 6 ohm. the only way is to buy the speaker sets they sell like pioneer, samsung, onkyo and other brands out there my logshttp://www.stevemead...-my-new-set-up/my blow through loghttp://www.stevemead...future-updates/ 96 ss http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/164094-96-impala-ss-build/

Facekicker
That's what I do as well, I have an iNuke3000 and iNuke6000 powering mains and subs with the surrounds running off the receiver. 2002 Monte Carlo Started a build log Fi, DC, Mechman, XS Power
_paralyzed_
The only reason your receiver is rated at 6 ohms is because they can advertise more watts per channel at 6 ohms. Most home speakers are 8 ohm. My cheap panasonic receiver is rated 100Wx5 at 6 ohms. It runs 4 ohm loads fine. Try a 4 ohm load on your receiver and see what it does, it will go into protection before blowing if it doesn't like the ohm load.
