Guest
I am looking to get a nice subwoofer(s) with good sound quality for my car. RIght now, I am leaning towards getting a single Fi Q 12" or 15" powered by a 1500wrms Crescendo amp. But I also like the idea of smaller 8" in subs. My other idea was getting 4 of the soundqubed 8" subs and power them with a 1200wrms soundqubed amp. I listen to alot of dubstep and electronica so I want a deep/heavy bass but I want it to be clean and accurate too. I am not looking to break the bank. Maybe $400-500 on the subs alone max. Let me know what you think or any other ideas you would recommend! The help is greatly appreciated!

Krakin
Get 2 SA-8's in a Double-shot and you will be very happy I've never heard of an SA sub being a SQ sub or even comparable to the Q line. Krakin's Home Dipole Project http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/186153-krakins-dipole-project-new-reciever-in-rockford-science/#entry2772370 Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist? I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . . What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself but what has drawn your attention in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears, thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener. gckless
Just to clarify, you're not competing SQ or anything right? Because the choices you have aren't exactly competition-level. Also, why do you like the idea of multiple smaller subs over a single larger one? "Clipping" is the biggest forum boner now. Krakin
OP what is your budget for just the sub(s)? You don't have to worry about the low end if your going for a tighter group delay or anything else that consists of a more SQ style system, as for that you tune pretty low -ex. 26 Hz- where as more SPL styles require a much higher tuning. Krakin
Just as a side note, one larger drivers will be more accurate than comparable cone area in smaller drivers. Guest
I am not doing any sq competition. This is just for personal use. My budget as aforementioned is $400-500 bucks for just the subs max. I really did like the Sundown 8" but like the one user said I am not sure if its for sq. So based off what you all have said so far, for more accurate bass it is better to go with a larger woofer like the Fi Q 12" or 15" than 4 8's? Any other brand or setup recommendations? Many thanks thus far!
gckless
There are a lot of choices for $400-500. One important thing that we need before anyone can recommend anything is your available space. Have you taken measurements? "Clipping" is the biggest forum boner now. Guest
I have about 36" of length to work with. The height and width are more flexible. But note I am not trying to fill up my entire trunk space or wall it off. haha
