GassenD Posted December 11, 2014 Report Posted December 11, 2014 What I'm wondering is, does it take more power to hit lower frequencies 30ish and below? I can go full tilt while driving to some dubstep (40hz and up usually) and never see below high 13s, throw on something that gets lower and I'm looking at low 12s.. Jessica Posted December 11, 2014 Report Posted December 11, 2014 It varies from build to build. GassenD Posted December 11, 2014 Author Report Posted December 11, 2014 Oh wow!Do you know what causes that? Does box tuning factor into it? '97 Explorer2 Sundown SA 15's SQ 2200D Kinetik KHC1800 (Front) Kinetik KHC 2000 (Back) KnuKonceptz 1/0 OFC 130A Alt + Big 3
P4killer_ Posted December 11, 2014 Report Posted December 11, 2014 Yea i was gonna say my voltage suffers on high notes. .. I think it has something to do with the caps in the amp or something. .. Capacitive reactance = 1/ 2pi * freq * capacitance So as frequency climbs the reactive gets smaller, as it approaches zero it acts like a short drawing the most power.. But then again idk lol. It high notes for me tho. In every build. GassenD Posted December 11, 2014 Author Report Posted December 11, 2014 Yeah I can handle higher notes with really no drop at all while driving but the second I start in on something low I'm down into battery voltage.. pa-pa-platypus Posted December 11, 2014 Report Posted December 11, 2014 it varies quite a bit due to fluctuation in your impedance curve in a given install your impedance will not stay constant on different frequency and this is why wiring low on music is a bad idea This isn't teeball. YOU DO NOT GET A TROPHY JUST BECAUSE YOU SHOW UP. Put the work in and then maybe get the respect when it has been earned 151.6 with single 12 at 41 hz 153.2 with 2 12's at 43 hz power: dd m4
JeepAndBassXJ Posted December 11, 2014 Report Posted December 11, 2014 My voltage suffers most on high notes and I notice that if I play a song that goes lower//higher than the audible range of the subs then it does almost nothing to my voltage even if the subs are still moving. Like if I play a 24Hz note with the subsonic filter off it does not effect my voltage because my subs are audible only from 28Hz to 72Hz; but it still is flapping away at almost full excursion. GassenD Posted December 11, 2014 Author Report Posted December 11, 2014 So if I was wired higher, let's just say I only had one of my 15s and wired it to 2 ohm theoretically I would have less impedance rise and a more "constant level of power"? Mmm I must be doing something wrong then, I have voltage drop like no other in the 20s.. No point in me even trying anything under 28hz because of the drop..
