[email protected]
Hi everyone, I was going to do a 4th order bandpass in my Hyundai Azera but I was going to take the entire trunk to do that, so I changed plans. Now I'll build a ported box with the sub and port in the rear deck (yes, it fits)... gonna build a sturdy box but I have my doubts with box volume, port area and tuning. things to considers are: - sub powered by nendo symphony s1500.1 - zvx 18 v1.5 with PSI softparts (longer coil for additional xmax than the stock one) - the box will be sealed off the trunk to get all the output to the cabin - will have to cut some metal so that's not a problem for me the box I have right now is an angled ported box so the box could enter the trunk, one problem is that is too small (4,7 cuft) and it's tuned too high for my taste (37-38hz). I can build a box that's up to 8 cuft gross without considering port volume. Anything will help, tomorrow I will get 1 month of vacations in which I'll do door panels for my infinity and polk audio components and run sky high car audio wires. It's a lot of work I have to do in one month so I want some help to do it once and good. Thanks!
Phaeton
Nice box! sounds like a good idea, Im doing the same thing on my car, port though the rear deck. I took a jig saw and bought a few metal blades and layed in my trunk and cut. But i hope you have a lot of port area, the picture of the box above looks awesome but port is a little small. 1997 subaru legacy outback Four 15's in a almost wall Rockford Fosgate t2500-1bdcp Rockford Fosgate T400-4 on tweets Rockford Fosgate T400-4 on highs Rockford Fosgate T400-2 on midrange Rockford Fosgate T400-2 on midbass Optima Yellow top batteries 270A Singer alt (working on a bracket for a second) Lots of Second Skin
Triticum Agricolam
Any particular reason you want to do a 4th order bandpass over a regular ported box? Phaeton
Any particular reason you want to do a 4th order bandpass over a regular ported box? the reason why i did a 4th order is so i wouldnt destroy my trunk latch cause im gonna put a monster amount of power to something thats 40 years old.

OK, yeah that makes sense. I got a little confused as was thinking the OP was wanting to do a 4th order too. No trunk rattle is another up side i suppose, no air flow in the trunk.
[email protected]
yeah but think about a ported box that sealed from the trunk, but aiming upwards, because the baffle will be at the rear deck height something like this any ideas of box size, tuning and port area???
