masongibb Posted December 29, 2014 Report Posted December 29, 2014 I am pretty new to this forum, but I am running into a serious issue. About a month back I bought a SQ HDC3 18 and I love it. I was running it with an mb quart 1500 (garbage I know, but it was budgety) for a while and it was fine, and pretty loud. Wanted to have a decent amp so I bought a skar audio t2000. Set gains and boost (gain at about 1/4 same with boost) by ear, but set them pretty low to be safe. It was fine for about a week and it slammed until one day the voice coil just starting rattling (not burnt at all, pulled it out of the box to check). I took it out and put in 2 Kicker comp R 15s (also garbage I know, also budgety) that I had laying around because I didnt want to be subless, but I turned all bass boost off and set the gains lower. Next day one of those 15s voice coil was rattling so set the gains with an oscilloscope with just one 15 hooked up. Voice coil rattle by the end of the drive home, and I didnt even turn it up past 25 (goes to 35, clips at 32 read by oscillioscope). Do the skar audio amps put out dirty garbage power? Im using itunes purchased music and rhapsody purchased music and it has never been a problem before or is it something I am doing wrong? running out of options here, if someone can help me out that would be great. masongibb Posted December 29, 2014 Author Report Posted December 29, 2014 It was deffinitely set above that, probably closer to 27, when the 15s went. however when the 18 went it was low, around 20.

masongibb Posted December 29, 2014 Author Report Posted December 29, 2014 I dont think it has anything to do with the box because it did it in two different boxes, one built for the 18 (local shop guy) and then prefab for the 15s

masongibb Posted December 29, 2014 Author Report Posted December 29, 2014 However, we (me and the guy I work with) did notice at idle, the amp wouldnt read a flat line on the oscilloscope, it was a very uneven wave.
