Broke_Audio_Addict Posted January 6, 2015 Report Posted January 6, 2015 If the alt wasn't charging the car wouldn't stay running. If you are having to get a Jumpstart every morning that tells me you have a parasitic draw somewhere or a bad battery. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.
GassenD Posted January 6, 2015 Author Report Posted January 6, 2015 Okay, after talking to a couple mechanics today and a guy at Bumper to Bumper, i'm confused as hell but my problem is fixed (I Believe). The people I've talked to all told me that having a AGM up front isn't very good, and they're not made for starting batteries and that I needed a good starting battery up front.. So I went and picked up a battery at Bumper to Bumper and threw it in there and everything seems fine. Voltage is constant at 14.4/14.5 and isn't dropping like before with the kinetik's, but the only thing I noticed which I don't know if it's just because I never paid this much attention before, but when I turn my heat on max my voltage drops slightly to 13.8 and back to 14.4 and fluctuates non-stop at an idle.. It's definitely not as bad as before and seems to have fixed my major problem, but does there still seem to be something wrong or is it fine and I should just stop worrying.. GassenD Posted January 7, 2015 Author Report Posted January 7, 2015 And now my battery from Bumper to Bumper is dead.. Sounds like my alts going out.. A few people said I might have a dead diode in my alt that could be drawing huge amount of power and killing my batts. Broke_Audio_Addict Posted January 7, 2015 Report Posted January 7, 2015 Parasitic draw, I believe someone smart told you that already though. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.
GassenD Posted January 7, 2015 Author Report Posted January 7, 2015 How would I find that? Or is that draw from the alternator.. I haven't installed or changed anything in the past 6 months.. Broke_Audio_Addict Posted January 7, 2015 Report Posted January 7, 2015 Yes the alt could be the source of the draw. Take it to an alt place and get it tested. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.
GassenD Posted January 9, 2015 Author Report Posted January 9, 2015 Yep, the alt was the source of the problem. Was draining my batts and wasn't charging right. Threw another in another and everything is back up and running fine.. Now I just have to re-charge my Kinetiks since I guess they weren't actually bad in the first place.. Broke_Audio_Addict Posted January 9, 2015 Report Posted January 9, 2015 Well at least you figured it out. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.
