B-Large
Don't worry too much about disconnecting the speakers. If you set the gains with the speakers disconnected and then reconnect them turning the head unit up just before clipping on music they will be subject to similar force. Austin42156
Thank you so much. I probably never would have thought of that! This is one of the many reasons I use this forum. Also, this is the video I have been using as a reference when tuning my system. Does this video seem accurate? I used a 0db test tone in my other car to set my amp, should I do the same in this one? - 1995 Pontiac Trans Am - 5.7 LT1 V8 - Kenwood Excelon x998 Deck - JL Audio XR650-CSI 6.5" 2-Way Component Speakers (In My Doors) - Crescendo Audio PWX 6.5" Mid Ranges (Right behind my seats) - (1) Kenwood KAC-9105d Monoblock Amplifier - (1) Kenwood X450/4, 4 Channel Amplifier - (2) Kenwood W3013ps 12" Subwoofers - Amps tuned with O-scope. - Stinger Roadkill Sound Deadening - F.A.S.T Rings by Mobile Solutions - Phoenix Gold and Stinger wiring
ROLEXrifleman
You can go the way described above. A test tone at factory amp power for 30 seconds or so shouldn't hurt. Where is the amp on that car? Can you pull the speaker out plugs from there just to be safe? Rolex you sicken me. Austin42156
No all of the speakers plug into the amp on one harness. So its either all or none. The factory amp is also located in the trunk. - 1995 Pontiac Trans Am - 5.7 LT1 V8 - Kenwood Excelon x998 Deck - JL Audio XR650-CSI 6.5" 2-Way Component Speakers (In My Doors) - Crescendo Audio PWX 6.5" Mid Ranges (Right behind my seats) - (1) Kenwood KAC-9105d Monoblock Amplifier - (1) Kenwood X450/4, 4 Channel Amplifier - (2) Kenwood W3013ps 12" Subwoofers - Amps tuned with O-scope. - Stinger Roadkill Sound Deadening - F.A.S.T Rings by Mobile Solutions - Phoenix Gold and Stinger wiring
Austin42156
Also, when connecting the o-scope probes to the 6 x 9s. Do I need to hook up one probe to the negative on one speaker and the other probe to the positive on the other speaker or should I just use one speaker to connect it to? - 1995 Pontiac Trans Am - 5.7 LT1 V8 - Kenwood Excelon x998 Deck - JL Audio XR650-CSI 6.5" 2-Way Component Speakers (In My Doors) - Crescendo Audio PWX 6.5" Mid Ranges (Right behind my seats) - (1) Kenwood KAC-9105d Monoblock Amplifier - (1) Kenwood X450/4, 4 Channel Amplifier - (2) Kenwood W3013ps 12" Subwoofers - Amps tuned with O-scope. - Stinger Roadkill Sound Deadening - F.A.S.T Rings by Mobile Solutions - Phoenix Gold and Stinger wiring
B-Large
Also, when connecting the o-scope probes to the 6 x 9s. Do I need to hook up one probe to the negative on one speaker and the other probe to the positive on the other speaker or should I just use one speaker to connect it to? You will need to use the positive and negative from the same speaker, left and right should be balanced so no need to scope both.
