I can tell you this, having worked with Z v.4 subs, they are VERY nicely made and perform very well. The JL sub is very well made too. My suggestion would be to look at the specs for both subs, maybe model them in WinISD or BassBoxPro and see which one will provide you the performance you are looking for. Joe X Posted January 8, 2015 Report Posted January 8, 2015 mobileaudiofreak as said both are great subs, the JL is SQ oriented sub and handles less power, the Zv4 is output oriented so peakier in the suggested enclosures and able to handle more power, if you want to push a ton of power get the Zv4, it handles more and there are recones available, I can tell you this much on JL, you don't even want to know how much it costs to send in for a recone a JL sub. Anyways try to avoid comparison questions or your thread won't live too long.
