Electrical circuit analysis is used to model speaker behavior in an enclosure, the following pic should help:

To keep it simple losses are not represented nor the sub itself, only a ported box, the math unhappily is hard once you factor everything in, not worth it at all since results are always of limited accuracy even in a nearly ideal environment and more so in a car.
