surround sound help and other tips

Recommended Posts

You forgot a way to power to the sub. If are going to go down this route you might as well get one of the home theater in a box products and at least end up with components that were designed to work together.

5.1 and 7.1 is better

Based on what? 7.1 is a complete waste with 50% of movies and in 90% of rooms. 5.1 can be cool, but at the price range we are taking about you have to choose if you want good sound quality or surround sound gimmicks, its up to each person to decide which is more important to them.

OK I had the wrong info ig. TV is only 42" wide. Wall is 66" wide. Depending on what happens it'll be either on floor stands or sitting on the fireplace. If I can make it happen that it. I'll make it simple I guess and go 2.1. I can build a sub box if needed. But now go ahead and give me the links to where I can buy the flat packs of speaker boxes or the link to plans and also to the speakers to use. Need the two outer, a center setup if needed, and sub.

Here is Curt Campbell's page: http://speakerdesignworks.com/index_page_2.html

Paul Carmody's: https://sites.google.com/site/undefinition/diy

CJD: http://www.divine-audio.com/

All three of these guys have designs specifically for home theater. I

This guy has a ton of HT designed speaker kits and flatpacks: http://www.diysoundgroup.com/

He is restructuring his products though so most are temporarily out of stock.

I'll probably try to build that home theatre from paul. Just the mains and center tho. So I'll need a sub box design. Down firing I think but tbd. And onkyo receiver. anyone want to recommend different speakers to use? I'd like to get everything from parts express. Then I'll come up with a total and tweak it if needed.

I do have a set of mb quart reference series covers if I could use them sweet. Idk specs tho. I'll have to pull them.
