Mike Rebman
We were spoiled last sunday, it was 70 and sunny. I guess we are paying for it now. Snow starts moving in tonight and will be here all day tomorrow. They are calling for 6-12 inches by the time its done for us. To add insult to injury my coworker called in sick so now I am on call. Mike Rebman
I bundled up and went out today and got a little work done. I wanted to make progress on the grills. I am basically standing off another faceplate that I will use the mesh material I got and carpet it. I made up some poster board templates of the face, and I used those to transfer to my 3/4 mfd. I will eventually router the outer edges round for a better look. I ran out of material in length to make this as 1 piece so I cut it in 2 pieces. I will either make another faceplate that will fit completely around the subs for the stand off, or I will fabricate a standoff. I am leaning towards a tubular type stand off, I am not worried about something getting between the grill and the box if I do use only a tubular type stand off. This is more than likely the route I will go. I bought some T nuts today and will use those to mount the grill to the faceplate. Ok, onto the pictures. There isn't much here but it's something. It was cold out there today!
Mike Rebman
Not much to update and here is the reason why: I did get a present from sonicelectronix.com today! Great service, fast shipping (was delayed by 1 day due to weather). I got this in the mail to add to my truck and ditch the entry level alpine I have in there now. It is either going to be real cold or snow/rain mix over the next few days. I wish I had a heated garage....

Mike Rebman
My weekends are sunday/monday. I hope to get back out there and make more progress on this. I am sorry there hasn't been much to update, but I am covered in ice over here and it has been continually below freezing. As long as the rain holds off I hope to get more done. I must resist the urge to just get it together and do the finish work when the weather finally warms up and stays warmed up.
Mike Rebman
Finally! an update that doesn't show a temperature reading. The weather has sucked the past couple of weeks, it finally broke just enough today I could get some work done. I continued on my faceplate/grill. I found various hardware bits at my local ruralking store. I used "T" nuts to be able to bolt the grill plate to the box. I haven't done any of the paint/carpet work. I will save that for when I am sure all of the fab work is done. I got started on my amp rack for behind the seat as well. I am sorry I don't have a picture of it actually in the truck, but I will have one later. I also apologize for the low light for the picture of the amp rack as it sits on my work bench. I am taking donations for new garage lights, if you wish to donate just hit me up! LOL! Gril plate and face of box have been drilled for the bolts and T nuts. I bought some close nipples to use as the spacers for the grill. I intend to carpet these to hide the threaded look they have. There is what 1 side looks like bolted on. You cannot see the spacers in this pic but they are there. My only concern at this point is how to seal the T nuts off inside the box since these bolts go all the way through the face. I have some scraps of rubber, I have thought of teflon tape on the threads of the bolts. I don't kow what might work the best. I am open for suggestions on this. I dont have a pic of it but I have both pieces of the grill drilled and ready for a final bolt to the box after carpet and subs. I figured for a smoother look I would round the edges of the grill plate. On to the equipment. 1 Alpine mrv-1000 - Used for mids and highs (I like my old school amp) 1 Hifonics BRX-2400.1 run at 1 ohm on 4 2ohm dvc alpine type s subs (not pictured here, but you have seem 2 of them so far in the build process) 1 4 farad cap I got off of an old coworker. Im sure its a cheap brand, but I got it cheap too.. 1 Red Top Optima Battery, I've had it for years. This equipment needs cleaned up, it's either been sitting in my garage or in my basement for a while. I hit 140.1 db in a competition once with 4 fosgate rfz 10's! powered by an alpine amp like this in my youth. I have a pic of that setup somewhere.. I still have to do ALL of the wiring, I have to mount the amp rack. I have that idea worked out, I will show pics later. The notches you see in the amp rack allow for seatbelts, and bolts. I want to leave this truck as stock as possible, or at least be able to return it to stock as possible in the event I sell it down the road. It will probably be a week or so before I can get more done. Tomorrow is my next day off but I have too much to do to make any decent progress.
