Tweeters in A-pillar area

Recommended Posts

I drive a 2009 Dodge Caliber. Right now I run a RF P1 component set in the door in place of a 6x9. Look at my build log for visuals.

I want to upgrade my set to the T1s soon. When I do, I want the tweeters up higher.

Where is the ideal place to put them? In the A-pillars aiming slightly at the window? Theres a triangular trim that hides the cable going to my mirrors. They're pointed down slightly. Would that be a decent spot? Trying to avoid fiber glassing by mounting them on a flush surface.

That sail panel is not a bad spot because of it's distance-to-ear relationship to the woofers. IIRC. Been a while since I've been in one.

Do you have the dash speaker locations? They are further away but tweeters can be mounted hidden under the factory grilles and many people like them there.

Wherever you choose I'd play with temporary mounting using different angling until you find what you are happiest with.

Static drops are my bag.

I do have factory dash grills. They're pointing straight up at the glass. Not sure if that's popular or not, but I've heard people talk about phasing issues and undesirable frequencies coming from the reflection off the glass.

Another one of those try it for yourself scenerios?

Worth a shot. If you can find a way to angle them so they fire parallel to the glass and inward toward the rear view mirror that is a popular starting point. If you have to fire them at the glass you can play with phasing and see if it helps.

If you can't seal them off on the backside and still achieve the angle you desire you can use a foam or carpet in the hole behind them to see if that helps too.

Experiment until you're happy. As always.

Eh, It'll be tough to get an angle because the factory grill is really close to the tweets already. We'll see. I'll try it both ways if I can.

What's with the foam and carpet?
