Evagoras Posted February 7, 2015 Report Posted February 7, 2015 Hi guys, im designing a 4th order box in winisd for two jbl's 12 inch, How much the vent mach should be? 2 4inch ports its 0.02 1 6 inch its 0.04 which one is best? thanks

Evagoras Posted February 7, 2015 Author Report Posted February 7, 2015 they are the GTO1214, im using 1cu.ft sealed and 2cu.ft ported side, i like deep low bass, i tuned 50hz and it seems the best for me i think, i have them in a ported box now tuned to 32hz and im very pleased with the way they sound, on winisd they look that they have similar line wave on the graph but its 5db more, really is it that much louder 4th order? the reason im switching into 4th order is because to much of the sound is getting lost in the trunk, ( my trunk is completely separate from cabin, its the chassis and fuel tank behind rear seats, mercedes 190E ) so with 4th order the ports are going to come out in rear deck and all the bass is going to be in the cabin, hopefully is going to sound better

When you measured the vent Mach, did you put in the amount of watts you are going to run into WinISD? Like CleanSierra said, more vent area is almost never bad, though as long as your vent Mach is below .05 (17 m/sec) you should be fine. Evagoras Posted February 7, 2015 Author Report Posted February 7, 2015 i did put the rms power of subs in winisd, thank you, i will download the new version as well by the way, im a bit concerned about the sound of 4th order, will i get similar output if i make a ported box with the port blowing in cabin and subs in trunk? whats your opinion on that ? thanks
