A proper flare should be the radius of the port both outward, and upward, creating a perfectly rounded edge. If you just put a MDF ring then route it the flare is only the part that gets routed, all the extra 1" around of perpendicular area isnt actually helping the "flare" so to speak. its just aesthetically pleasing. Mustang2dakota Posted February 27, 2015 Author Report Posted February 27, 2015 guys, you are getting too complicated about this, you can do some nasty flares CHEAP and easily by just using some mdf rings, and some fiberglass and bondo, if you do not how to work with those things, you can just add a nice huge mdf ring flush mounted to the "mouth" of the pvc, yes, just as easy as that, and it works almost as great as the other flares properly built I like your idea, might not be the most efficient but its defiantly better than nothing.
