Wicks
The capacity (AH) of a series chain of batteries will match that of the lowest capacity in the chain. Therefore two 250AH batteries in series will still be 250AH overall since the current through both batteries is the same. Voltage is additive. There is confusion with capacitors in series. In that case, the capacitance is halved with two identical caps in series. Two 6V batteries will work fine in series, but as with other power components in series, you'll want to keep an eye on the voltage of each battery. Probly not a huge deal with two batteries, but there is potential if one battery goes bad and induces more voltage on the remaining battery. There is where cell balancing comes into effect with series caps. KiKaZz74
That's where I got messed up. Only done equations with caps. Never death with batteries for capacity and amperage draws. Lanzar_Optidrive
i have a 300amp alternator im sure that would be okay? - i wont be banging it none stop like i used to its more for comps and shows 30 second average for meter etc... and then maybe 10 mins for the crowd etc "So yes. Each set is 125AH. Total of 375AH. Amperage rating you'd have to find. I think amperage stays the same in series" this is confusing... is the AH(amp per hour) not the same as amperage per hour? to me it is...
Lanzar_Optidrive
thanks for all the replies guys il be running two lanzar 6000D amps strapped of 8 15s... im hoping that these batteries will be enough? what do the masters say? AH (Amp Hours) is a good idea of capacity, it's meant to be a recharge rate. It will take 250 amps to recharge in 1 hour from somewhere. I forget what point that is. I was asking on the amperage rating. Like you have a 300amp alt. What are the batteries capable of taking for a draw. 600A? 1000? Who knows? That's what some were getting at. If they aren't rated for much u may have problems when the time comes. Lanzar_Optidrive
their CCA = 5000 and 250 AH i played them without charging them i bought 10 in total so thats 5 12 V cells made up.... so that gave me enough power to crank without charging.... next show im be sure to charge them nicely
