MusicHead804
when buying a alternator what do I have to take into perspective? I've been told that I can't just up and buy and 250amp alt because my car might not be able to handle it. Is this true ?
Broke_Audio_Addict
No. An alt doesn't produce it's max output at all times, it only produces what is asked for That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals. moredbs
As long as your getting a DC,Mechman, or Singer ... i would say ask one of those guys what your looking to do.
boom50cal
Smaller engines can and will be bogged down under load from a HO alt... 01 Volvo S40 with a Singer 220, 1.9l turbo 4 cylinder would drop 3-500 rpm while cruising during heavy notes. Good friend of mine has a 96 Accord 2.2 4 cylinder with a DC270xp, under heavy load it has been known to stall. boom50cal
what vehicle? It would be a good idea to ask your alternator builder these questions.
